The fourth of five sons in an energetic, active family, Mike Senne spent his elementary years at St. John's, shadowing his father Roger, a teacher, coach and athletic director.Â
While at Orange Lutheran, his favorite sport was basketball. As a three-year letter winner, he twice received All-League accolades and All-CIF recognition as a senior. He continues to be among the school's all-time leaders in several categories.Â
Baseball became the way to his professional dream: a four-year letter winner, who played for four different Lancer coaches, Senne graduated as the most recognized player in Lancer baseball history.Â
Michael pitched one season at Cal Lutheran before breaking hitting records as a sophomore at Orange Coast College, which led to a full-ride scholarship to Arizona and MVP honors at the 1986 College World Series Championship in Omahe, Nebraska. Senne then spent four years in the St. Louis Cardinals and San Francisco Giants minor league systems before injuries ended his career.Â
Michael maintains that his father, Roger, was the most pivotal influence in his baseball career. Roger coached Michael for a majority of his playing career, and not only taught him the sport of baseball, but taught him the sport of life. From age 6, Michael dreamed of being a pro, and his father helped him accomplish that dream, which is a large reason why Roger will serve as his son's best man when Michael married his wife Kristy.Â
