In Coach Kunau's 20 years of coaching football at Orange Lutheran, only five athletes started and played key roles as freshmen. One was four year starter Eric Augustine. From the time Eric first arrived for football practice int he summer of 2001, he was a force to be reckoned with. He was the epitome of Teddy Roosevelt's famous admonition to "speak softly and carry a big stick". Humble and quiet by nature, Eric was a fierce competitor, using his power, indomitable will, and God-given talents to lead the Lancers to four league championships and three CIF Championship Game appearances, including a dominant victory oer Newport Harbor in Angel Stadium to secure the first CIF Championship in football for the Big Red.

Eric was greatly admired not only by his own teammates and coaches, but also by opposing coaches who unanimously selected him CIF Player of the Year in 2004. He was also All-County in both 2003 and 2004 as well as the League Lineman of the Year. All these accolades make him one of the truly elite competitors in OLu Athletic history.

After graduating in 2005, Eric went on to star at Azusa Pacific University at defensive tackle where he was once again a four year starter, leading his team to many victories. While a student at Azusa he met his future wife, Danielle, at a concert at Stagecoach. They have a beautiful marraige and are the proud parents of adorable twin toddlers, Kyson and Karter.
