3 Winter Sports Begin Their Playoffs With Success

A triple header of playoff games took place yesterday... 

Girls Water Polo finished a 3 game pool play yesterday in the CIF-SS Open Division playoffs. The Lancers finished 3rd in their pool and will now travel to Oaks Christian on Saturday, February 14 for a quarterfinal matchup with the Lions. The two teams have already faced each other twice this season with the most recent matchup on January 17 ending up in a close 8-9 victory for the Lions. 

Boys Basketball traveled to Arcadia for the first round of CIF Division 1 playoffs. The Lancers ended up down 40-39 at halftime and at the end of the third quarter it was tied 57-57. In a crucial fourth quarter the Lancers pulled ahead to take the victory 79-74. Senior Josh King led with 22 points, Sophomore Noah Zeola added 19 and Ethan McCoy led the team with 8 assists. They will host Rolling Hills Prep in round 2 at Orange Lutheran on Friday, February 13 at 7:00 PM. 

Boys Soccer hosted Palos Verdes in the first leg of a new 2 leg aggregate scoring format for the CIF-SS Open Division. The Sea Kings scored first and then Kyler Firouznam tied the game for the Lancers with an assist from Maxwell Hernandez. The game ended in a 1-1 tie. The teams will now play again at Palos Verdes on Friday, February 13 at 3:15 PM. The winner will advance to round 2 beginning on February 17.
