Coach Thome begins his 25th season of his coaching ministries with the Lancer baseball program. As an ambassador of Christ, he has mentored the physical and spiritual development of the players on all Lancer baseball levels. In the past 24 years as head coach of either the JV or Freshmen teams, he has led those teams to an overall record of 360-180-18 with 7 league and 8 tournament championships. Coach Thome has either played in or coached organized baseball for over 55 years and attributes his leadership and baseball knowledge to his mentors. He is a graduate of Servite High School where he earned All-League and All-County honors in 1980 and in 2013 was inducted into their Hall of Fame as a member of their 1978 CIF Championship Team. Coach Thome went on to play collegiate baseball at Cal Poly Pomona while earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in Operations Management. He then played 6 years in Southern California’s Orange County Amateur Baseball Association (OCABA). While not on the ball field, Coach Thome works for the Boeing Company where he has been employed for the past 40 years and is blessed they support his coaching interests. Coach Thome and his bride of 35 years, Su, live in Anaheim Hills with their daughter, Madison, an '18 OLu graduate '22 Grand Canyon University (GCU) graduate with a degree in General Elementary/Special Education and teaches preschool at Trinity Lutheran in Anaheim. He considers his wife and daughter the greatest baseball supporters a husband/father could ever ask for.
