2025 Girls Golf Season Preview

Orange Lutheran golf made program history last fall when the Lancers captured the CIF-SS Division 1 crown with a -19 under par round at Los Serranos Golf Course. And with the roster only losing two seniors to graduation, this year's lineup looks to be ready to defend their title with another strong postseason run.

"We're definitely primed to do something good again this year," says OLu girls golf head coach Dustin Boburka.

The Lancers will return a talented core of senior leaders in Ally Kim, a Rice University commit and the 2024 Trinity League individual champion; Charlene Woo, a Claremont McKenna College commit and reigning Trinity League MVP; and Jude Lee, a Stanford commit ranked among the nation's Top 10 golfers in her age group. The trio complements each other in the ways they lead their teammates.

"Our three seniors are really good, they're really seasoned and they're veterans," says Boburka. "I know they can lead this group of humans so hopefully we can go and celebrate later on in the year."

Also returning are junior Gabby Kim and sophomore Myla Robinson, both of whom contributed to the team's 2024 CIF title. Joining them this season are a group of talented underclassmen, including sophomore transfers Emily Byun and Katie Park.

"It's really cool seeing the seniors embrace that this is their last run," says Boburka. "We've got some talented golfers who are underclassmen, and we now get the opportunity to mentor those individuals and show them what it looks like to be part of the Lancer golf program."

As part of their nonleague schedule, the Lancers travel to Las Vegas to take on Bishop Gorman and Faith Lutheran. Additionally, OLu will face off against the top 10 teams in SoCal in the South Bay Invitational beginning September 8. The Walnut Varsity Classic (October 6) and the R. Murphy Invitational (October 13) round out their tournament play. Trinity League matchups begin September 11 versus Santa Margarita.

This season, the program has adopted the theme "Enjoy the Good," as drawn from James 1:17. Boburka feels an energy and an electricity among the group, and he hopes to not only see some great golf performances, but that the girls enjoy every moment as teammates.

"When I think about how special this group is, I want Orange Lutheran golf to be enjoyable for them," says Boburka. "I want them to compete. I want them to play hard. But at the same time, I want them to enjoy these moments. They're a bunch of great, honest, amazing humans, not just on the golf course, but in the classroom. They lead with their faith, and that's the most important thing out of all of this."
