It was a perfect ending to the 2024 baseball season. The Orange Lutheran baseball team captured their
first-ever CIF championship of any kind, winning the Divison 1 CIF State Regional title 7-6 over La Mirada on Saturday afternoon.
It wasn't an ideal start for OLu, as they fell behind 2-0 after the top half of the first inning. However, that didn't faze the Lancers as they responded with a 5-run bottom half of the inning, spearheaded by a bases-clearing double by senior
Finnegan Stewart. OLu added two more in the 2nd to make it 7-2. The Matadores made it interesting, scoring 3 runs in the top of the 7th and having the tying run on 2nd base before senior
Ross Clark struck out the final batter to secure victory.
OLu finished the season with a Prep Baseball Report tournament championship, a Trinity League Championship, and a CIF-SS Semifinal appearance to accompany the State Regional title. Their overall record was 28-7.
