When pitcher
Drake Frize's name was called on Tuesday afternoon during the MLB Draft, he became the 28th Orange Lutheran baseball player selected in school history. The Arizona Diamondbacks picked Frize in the 17th round.
During his time at OLu, he was a member of the back-to-back Trinity League champs in 2018 and 2019.
Frize then attended the
University of San Diego, where he saw action on the mound for three seasons. He pitched 44.1 innings, striking out 65 batters over his three-year career. In 2024, he put together a stellar season with a 2.38 ERA over 22.2 IP and striking out 41 batters.
