The Lancers are off to the CIF State Regional semifinals after a 3-2 win over Granada Hills in PK's in what can only be described as a game for the ages.

OLu jumped out to a 2-0 advantage after a late first-half goal by Max Hernandez and an early 2nd half goal by AJ Campbell. It looked like they were in cruise control until Granada scored two goals in 5 minutes to level the score 2-2 with 18 minutes remaining.

The Highlanders nearly won it late in regulation when a shot clanged off the crossbar, and the rebound was sent wide. In overtime, sophomore keeper Christian Garcia made two point-blank saves to keep the Lancers in the game.

On to penalty kicks, both teams had opportunities to win in the first seven rounds. Campbell was saved with a chance to win. Then, after two consecutive saves by their goalie, the Highlanders hit the crossbar on a game-winning kick. Finally, Garcia made the final save in the 10th round to secure victory.

The Lancers will play Crossroads in the semifinals at home on Thursday, February 29. The game time is TBD.
