Orange Lutheran's Flag Football team took another step towards the first-ever CIF-SS Division 1 Championship with a 40-12 victory over Corona Del Mar, who entered the contest as the 14th-ranked team in the nation, according to MaxPreps.com.
The Lancers, who are now on a 3-game winning streak after a speed bump in the latter part of the regular season, were firing on all cylinders from the first snap. QB Makena Cook led the offense to 5 touchdowns on all of their five drives in the first half, while the defense did not allow a first down in the entire first half of the game. The Lancers led 34-0 at the break.

CDM's offense began to move the ball on the opening drive of the second half only to be thwarted by Julia Oberholtzer's interception at the goal line to deny CDM their first score.
The starting offensive executed a final touchdown drive of 78 yards on five plays capped by a 3-yard TD reception by Capriana Cuneo, her second TD of the game. Cuneo also caught a 33-yard pass from Cook on the drive and finished the game with six receptions for 91 yards.
Cook threw for 371 yards on 31-38 passing and 6 TDs in the game, and the Lancers accumulated 439 total yards of offense. The receiving corps was led by Josie Anderson, who finished the game with five catches for 124 yards. The offensive output was the largest of the season, giving this team momentum, heading into a CIF-SS Semifinal against Canyon High School on Saturday, November 2nd, at Orange Lutheran.
