November 12, 2025, marked the first Athletic Signing Day of the 2025-2026 academic year, and Orange Lutheran honored 14 student athletes from across four sports as they officially committed to pursue their academic and athletic endeavors at the collegiate level.
Orange Lutheran Assistant Principal of Athletics Jon Spencer welcomed attendees to the Ellwein Center and opened the ceremony in prayer. Athletic Director Karen Kekipi shared words celebrating the athletes and their achievements.Â
"Reaching this accomplishment speaks so much to your character to remain diligent and disciplined in the hard work to achieve this goal," said Kekipi. "You have gotten it done in the classroom and have invested so much in your athletic pursuits….We are excited to see how the Lord will work in your life as you go on to your next adventure. Please remember to always keep your eyes upon Him as He will lead you through."

Madelyn Armendariz
Lancer shortstop Madelyn Armendariz will be taking her talents to the University of Mississippi next year. Armendariz is a four-year varsity player with the program and is a two-time 1st Team All-Trinity League and Trinity League Gold Glove honoree. As a senior leader, she is a mentor to her younger teammates.
"She takes the time during practice to help out our younger players with their form or techniques, and it's things that she doesn't have to do, but she does do," said OLu softball head coach Steve Miklos. "She's a quiet leader on the team, she leads by example, and she's a hard worker who strives to get better every single day."
Armendariz has a .350 career batting average and her consistent play last season saw her record hits in 23 of 28 games and drive in a personal high 29 runs. She also is a high achiever in the classroom with a 4.4 GPA.
"Thank you to all my family members who have been by my side cheering me on throughout this journey," said Armendariz. "I could not have done it without the love and support that I received from you all. I'd also like to thank each and every one of my coaches and mentors that have helped shaped me into not only the player but also the person I am today. Most importantly, I thank God for giving me the strength and ability to play this sport that I love at the next level."

Morgan Fitzpatrick
Morgan Fitzpatrick will be continuing her softball career at the University of Notre Dame. The senior transfer will be playing her first season as a Lancer this spring and is looking to make an immediate impact.
"From what I've seen of her this fall, I'm really excited to see what she's going to do for our program this year," said Miklos. "She's got a big bat. I think she's going to drive in a lot of runs for us. Defensively, she's very versatile. She plays infield and outfield, so she's going to help fill in where she's needed. All around, I'm excited for her."
Fitzpatrick is a four-year varsity player and is coming off of a CIF Division 2 championship, including All-League honors.Â
"I want to thank God for blessing me with the talent and opportunity to play the sport I love and for guiding me on this journey to play college softball," said Fitzpatrick. "I'm also incredibly grateful for my family, especially my parents, for everything they've done for me. I wouldn't be where I am today without their constant love and support. I feel so blessed to have parents like them and truly appreciate all the sacrifices they've made. Thank you as well to all the coaches who have helped me grow and supported me along the way."

Josephine Marsh
Pitcher Josephine Marsh is heading to UCLA to continue her softball career. A junior transfer to OLu, Marsh pitched to a 6-1 record and a 3.17 ERA for the Lancers last season.Â
"She's an exceptionally hard worker," said Miklos. "I know she really practices all the time to improve her pitching skills, and I know UCLA is getting a really good player…We look forward to seeing what she's going to do this year for us the whole season as a Lancer."
In addition to being a power pitcher, Marsh hits with power and recorded a .287 batting average for OLu last spring.
"I would first like to thank my coaches for always pushing me to my maximum potential and helping me grow as a player," said Marsh. "I would also like to thank my friends, and especially family, for always being there for me throughout this journey and cheering me on. Most of all, I would like to thank my parents for always believing in my dream and for helping me make it my reality. I love you. I can't wait to start this new chapter. Go Bruins."

Sierra Nichols
Four-year varsity softball player Sierra Nichols has committed to Idaho State University. Nichols is a 1st Team All-Trinity League and 2nd Team All-County selection.
"Sierra plays with the passion, the intensity and the joy that's just contagious to everybody around her," said OLu softball assistant coach Ken Briggs. "She's truly a team player, the kind of player who celebrates her teammates wins as much as her own, who leads with encouragement and effort, who never backs down from a fight or a challenge."
Nichols made an impact offensively in her junior season for the Lancers with a .440 batting average, .480 on base percentage and 35 runs scored.
"First, I would like to thank God for giving me the ability to play this sport that I love and for giving me this opportunity to play college softball," said Nichols. "I would also like to thank my family, and especially my parents, for all they have done for me. I would not be able to get where I am today without you guys. I am so blessed to have parents like my mom and dad, and I am grateful for all you have sacrificed. Thank you to all the coaches and teammates that have helped me along the way."

Carlyn Snyder
Senior Lancer Carlyn Snyder has committed to play softball for San Jose State University. Snyder came to OLu as a shortstop but was willing to move to third base and learn a new position.Â
"She's gotten better and better every year and has become a very, very good third baseman," said Miklos. "She's got a big bat, and she's a power hitter…She's willing to do anything that we ask to help the team. She's the ultimate teammate…I'm so excited to see what she's going to do at San Jose State."
Snyder expressed her gratitude to her family and everyone who supported her in achieving her goal of competing at the collegiate level.
"I want to give a huge thank you to all the family and friends, and most importantly my parents, who have been along my side for my softball career," said Snyder. "I also want to thank all of my coaches that have helped me grow as an athlete, but more importantly a young woman. Above all, I thank God for giving me the strength and opportunity to be blessed growing up through softball and now on to the next level."

Jude Lee
Senior golfer Jude Lee will be continuing her academic and athletic career at Stanford University. Lee is a member of OLu's 2024 CIF-SS Division 1 championship team, the first in program history. She is also the 2025 Trinity League Individual Champion, a title she earned earlier this month.
"Jude, you knew that our program was going to be talented…and you paved the way for what excellence was going to look like," said OLu girls golf head coach Dustin Boburka. "You've given a glimpse into what it takes to get to the next level and beyond."
Lee was also named 2024 Orange County Player of the Year and is a member of the U.S. National Junior Team. Additionally, she qualified to play as an amateur participant in the 2025 U.S. Women's Open.
"All the glory goes to God!" said Lee. "I also want to thank my parents, coaches, teachers, teammates, friends and everyone who has been a part of this journey so far. None of this could have been possible without your support and love!"

Ally Kim
Senior Lancer Ally Kim has committed to play golf for Rice University. Kim is also a member of OLu's 2024 CIF-SS Division 1 championship team and was the 2024 Trinity League Individual Champion.
"Ally's an outstanding player, but when she's playing as part of her team, her game elevates even more," said Boburka. "When she knows that she is playing for something bigger than herself, she realizes she's playing for her teammates and for more than just an individual title…Watching her smile when she knows her team is doing well is something that I truly hope she takes with her to the next level."
An All-League honoree, Kim is grateful to those in her support system who helped her take this next step.
"First of all, thank you so, so much to my mom, dad and little sister who have been my #1 supporters since day one," said Kim. "I definitely wouldn't have been able to come this far if it wasn't for their dedication and support. Thank you to all the coaches that have taught me so much about this amazing sport, and last but not least, thank you to Coach Berglund for giving me this amazing opportunity to be able to play at the next level and represent such a prestigious school. Go Owls!"

Eva Sumadi
Senior STUNT athlete Eva Sumadi has committed to continuing her academic and athletic career at California Baptist University. While she has only been part of OLu's STUNT program for one season, Sumadi has brought a steady and positive presence.
"She's one of those athletes that doesn't need to be the loudest in the room to lead," said OLu STUNT head coach Shannon May. "She leads through her consistency, her grace and her heart. Every time she steps on the mat, she gives her best, not for recognition, but because she truly wants to honor the Lord through her efforts."
A 1st Team All-League honoree, Sumadi is grateful to God and all those who have helped her become the athlete and person she is today.
"I want to start by thanking God for giving me the strength, guidance and opportunities that have led me to this point—because without God, none of this would have been anywhere near possible," said Sumadi. "I'm so grateful for my family, dad, brother, and especially my mom, who has been with me through every step of my athletic career, for always supporting and believing in me. They never let me give up when things got hard, reminding me to stay strong and keep pushing forward. A special thank you to Coach May for introducing me to STUNT and helping me grow as both an athlete and a leader, and to the CBU STUNT coaches, Coach Brandon and Coach Evvyn, for believing in my potential and pushing me to improve. Lastly but certainly not least, I want to thank all my All-Star and high school cheer coaches who have taught me discipline and teamwork over the years—lessons I'll carry with me forever."

Allison CohenÂ
Four-year varsity Lancer Allison Cohen will be continuing her water polo career at Stanford University. A two-time CIF champion with OLu, Cohen has represented Team USA at every level.Â
"Beyond her achievements, it is her love for her teammates, her commitment to excellence, and her heart for Christ that truly set her apart," said OLu girls water polo head coach Melissa Seidemann. "At Orange Lutheran, Allison has embodied what it means to compete for something bigger than herself, using her God-given gifts to glorify Him in and out of the water. As she takes the next step of her journey to Stanford University, we know she'll continue to shine brightly, leading the way with grace, strength and faith."
Cohen is also the 2025 OC Player of the Year, Trinity League MVP and a three-time 1st Team All-CIF honoree.
"I would like to thank every coach that has supported me and shared their knowledge of not only water polo, but also leadership and hard work," said Cohen. "Thank you to my Vanguard coaches, SET coaches, National Team coaches, Coach Brenda and Coach Melissa, Coach Bubba and Neal Ziemann, and all of the Orange Lutheran staff for always believing in my dreams. This wouldn't have been possible without the grace of God, my family, friends and teammates who have lifted me up, poured into me, and inspired me to keep growing every step of the way. I'm especially grateful for those who have prayed for me and walked alongside me in faith, reminding me that every step of this journey is guided by His purpose."

Cali Craft
Center defender Cali Craft has committed to UC Irvine for water polo. Craft is also a member of OLu's two-time CIF and State Regional championship team.
"Cali is the definition of resilience and determination," said Seidemann. "She approaches every challenge with strength and purpose, trusting in God's plan, and always striving to grow to the person He is calling her to be. What truly sets Cali apart is her honesty and openness. She's a thoughtful communicator who leads with integrity and compassion. Her love for her family and her faith shine through in everything she does. And that same loyalty and heart are reflected in the way that she plays and uplifts those around her."
Craft is excited for her next chapter and is grateful to those who have been instrumental in helping her achieve her athletic and academic goals.
"I would like to thank my teammates, coaches and family for the support they have provided me throughout my four years at Orange Lutheran High School," said Craft. "I especially want to thank God for giving me the strength and opportunities that have brought me to where I am today. Having the chance to learn from my teammates and coaches over the years has given me the greatest tools to bring with me as I continue my career in water polo. I am so excited and looking forward to my next four years at the University of California, Irvine! ZOT ZOT!"

Emma Galaz
Lancer goalkeeper Emma Galaz will continue her academic and athletic career at Concordia University Irvine. The three-year varsity player is a member of OLu's CIF championship team and is a scholar athlete.
"As our goalie, Emma anchors our defense with confidence and calmness, using her gifts to strengthen and inspire those around her," said Seidemann. "Through both triumphs and challenges…she's remained steadfast in her faith, showing grace, perseverance, and a positive spirit that encourages everyone on the team. Emma's joyful heart and Christ-centered leadership remind us what it means to play and live for a higher purpose."
Galaz is grateful to those in her support system who helped her take this next step.
"I want to thank God for blessing me with the ability to play the sport I love," said Galaz. "I also want to thank my parents for always supporting me and believing in me through every challenge. Thank you to my coaches for pushing me to be my best and helping me grow both on and off the field. I'm beyond grateful for all the people who helped me get to this point."

London Mellon
Senior Lancer London Mellon has committed to play water polo for Loyola Marymount University. Mellon is an out-of-state transfer who came to OLu seeking the challenge of higher-level water polo.
"Through her resilience, determination and open-minded spirit, she has not only elevated her game, but strengthened the community around her," said Seidemann. "What stands out most about London is her willingness to listen, learn, and communicate with grace, qualities that make her an incredible teammate and leader."
Mellon thanked her support system in both Texas and California for guiding her to this next chapter.
"I want to thank my family for always believing in my potential and pushing me to reach it," said Mellon. "To all my coaches in Texas, thank you for supporting me from the very beginning, showing me what leadership is and encouraging me to become the athlete I am today. Thank you to Brenda Villa and the 6-8 Academy for creating opportunities that make competing at the next level possible. Y'all have made this process unforgettable, and I'm so grateful for everything you've done to help me chase my goals."

Elizabeth Nicoloff
Four-year varsity Lancer Elizabeth Nicoloff will be continuing her water polo career at UC Santa Barbara. Nicoloff is a member of OLu's two-time CIF and State Regional championship team.
"Liz is a dynamic force in our water polo program," said Seidemann. "She brings energy and enthusiasm to everything she does. Whether it's in the pool, in practice or with her teammates, her adventurous spirit and drive to succeed shine through. Liz's passion, adaptability and relentless work ethic are matched by her grounded faith and positive outlook. She leads with joy, humility, and reflecting the light of Christ in the way that she competes and cares for others."
Seidemann cited Nicoloff's versatility, commitment and willingness to step into any role and give her all as a significant part of the team's success.
"I would like to thank all my coaches that have helped and supported me to get to this point," said Nicoloff. "I also would not have made it here if it wasn't for my parents who have been by my side through everything. Thanks for putting up with all the late night practices and early morning games! I am so grateful for all my teammates as I am so lucky to have a team that inspires me to be the best that I can! All of you have made this possible, thank you so much!"

Ella Treglia will be continuing her water polo career at UC Santa Barbara. The four-year varsity player is a scholar athlete and part of OLu's CIF title-winning team.
"Ella is an anchor of our Orange Lutheran water polo program," said Seidemann. "She's been a staple, known not only for her incredible skill in the pool, but the way she brings people together through her Christ-like character. Her confidence, calm presence and quiet strength have shaped the heart of our team…She's the kind of athlete that every coach hopes to have, one who lifts others up, reflects God's love and makes everyone around her better."
Seidemann recognized Treglia's leadership, determination and the way she encourages those around her through grace and humility.
"I want to thank my coaches, family and friends who have made this possible," said Treglia. "I'm so grateful to be blessed with the opportunity to play D1 water polo at UCSB. I could not have done it without the coaches I have had throughout the years that have taught me so much about the sport and pushed me to be my best, as well as my teammates who encourage me to be better every day. I'm so grateful for my parents and all the opportunities they've given me to reach this goal and that God gave me the ability to play a sport I love so much."
