A fast start propelled the Lancers girls basketball team on Thursday night as they opened their back-to-back CIF title defense against Canyon (Canyon Country). The Lancers used a 29-point first quarter to open up a 20-point lead and never looked back,
beating Canyon 77-66.

Princess Cassell shined, scoring 13 of her 23 points in the first quarter and passing 1,000 career points along the way. OLu had four starters in double figures, including
Shea Joko, who scored 17,
Kelly Garrity, who scored 11, and
Sheridan Kennedy, who scored 11.
The win moves the Lancers to 11-0 in their past 11 CIF-SS playoff games.
They will host Long Beach Poly in the second round on Saturday, February 10. The tip time is TBD.Â
