It was a rare Thursday night game for Orange Lutheran as they traveled to Trabuco Hills to play Santa Margarita in Trinity League action. The Lancers jumped out quick with an 8-yard touchdown from Carson Conklin to Jonah Laban and a 64-yard connection from Logan Gonzalez to Malik Blackmon. OLu led 14-8 at the half behind the two scores and stout defense. Still holding the slim margin midway through the 4th quarter the game changed when Wes Uipi buried the Santa Margarita running back on a 4th and goal from the 2 for a 5-yard loss (1:19). Two plays later Cooper Vander Hill broke away for an 87-yard touchdown run. On the next Eagles possession, Joseph Wiersma knocked the ball loose from the Eagles quarterback and Jonah Laban scooped it up for a touchdown. The Lancers went on to 28-14. OLu is now 4-3 overall and 1-1 in Trinity League play. They host St. John Bosco on Friday, October 18 at Orange Coast College. Kickoff is set for 7 pm.
