Orange Lutheran Head Boys Soccer Coach Jon Spencer has tendered his resignation. Coach Spencer recently accepted a position with the front office of the Real Salt Lake Major League Soccer club. Orange Lutheran is blessed, however, by his desire to remain in the Lancer community as a volunteer to continue his support of the program moving forward.
“While we are saddened by this news, we pray God’s richest blessings to Coach Spencer and his family in this transition out of state,” said school administration in an email to families. “We are so thankful for the incredible work done by Coach Spencer building relationships with players, bringing in quality assistant coaches, setting the program on a promising trajectory, and impacting our students for Christ.”
At the same time, Orange Lutheran is thrilled to announce Mike Oseguera will be joining the Lancer family as our new Head Boys’ Soccer Coach and Head of Soccer Operations.
“We also have the utmost confidence in his passion for leading our program in a way that aligns with and upholds our school’s mission, vision, and important cultural standards,” school administration said in an email to families.
Oseguera comes to Orange Lutheran from Loyola Marymount University where he served as an assistant coach and goalkeeper coach since 2015. Coach Oseguera also served as the associate head varsity coach of the boys soccer program at Servite High School and as an assistant coach in the soccer programs at Concordia University, Irvine.
“I am extremely excited and blessed to join the Orange Lutheran family,” Oseguera said. “From the first moment I stepped onto campus, I knew OLu is a special place. The vision, and values outlined by the school, align perfectly with the ambitious goals and direction of the athletic department. I will do my best to continue the exceptional work done by Coach Spencer, laying the foundation for an environment of elite academic and athletic success. God Bless and Go Lancers!”
The boys soccer season starts in November.
