The girls water polo team remained perfect over the holiday break, winning the Bill Barnett Holiday Classic for the 1st time in school history.
The Lancers entered the tournament 4-0 and ranked #1 in the CIF-SS Division 1 poll and by the OC Register.
Day 1 saw OLu beat Carlsbad 19-1, followed by a thrilling 12-11 win over Trinity League rival Mater Dei to advance to the semifinals.
In the semis, the Lancers beat Los Alamitos for the second time this season 10-6. In the finals, OLu met San Marcos. Tied 12-12 late in the 4th quarter, Allison Cohen scored to give the Lancers the lead by 1. Michelle Urkov struck shortly after to give OLu the two-goal cushion and the win.
Cohen was named the OC Varsity girls athlete of the week following her five-goal performance in the finals.
The Lancers are currently 8-0 and are back in the pool on Thursday against Santa Margarita in the Trinity League opener.
