Julia Schlachter scored with under a minute left in double overtime to lift the Lancers over El Toro 14-13 on Monday evening.

 

OLu started slow, conceding six early goals and trailing by a 5 goal deficit that forced them to play from behind every step of the way in Monday’s CIF Division 3 Wildcard matchup.

 

At the half, they had cut the lead to 8-5, but with under 10 minutes remaining, the Lancers still trailed by 4. However, they never quit.

 

Abby Nattagh-Turner spearheaded the comeback forcing the play into the offensive zone. She had three goals.

 

Down 2 with minutes remaining, Abby Walehwa scored two straight goals within a minute, the ladder, to finally get the Lancers even at 13 with over a minute left in regulation.

 

After a scoreless first overtime, Schlachter finished the game with a bounce shot, one of her four goals. Chloe Mora also scored four times. Kiara Price made seven saves.

 

The Lancers advance into the main draw with the win and will play at Downey in round 1 on Wednesday, May 3.
