Athlete Profiles
Over the course of each season, one athlete from each sport is selected as a profile athlete. This week’s profile is a feature on girls tennis senior Julia Fierro.

Football
OLu fought hard to the end against top 5 ranked St. John Bosco on Friday night in a 49-25 loss to the Braves. The Lancers scored 19 of their 25 points in the fourth quarter. Logan Gonzalez hit Jaylen Lynch for two touchdowns during the 19 point quarter. The Lancers drop to 5-3 overall and 0-3 in the league. Next up is a top 10 showdown against Santa Margarita. The kickoff is set for 7 pm at Saddleback College.
Girls Volleyball
The girls volleyball team finished 3rd in the Trinity League after knocking off Santa Margarita on Wednesday. The win secured the Lancers a berth into the Division 3 CIF Playoffs. They finished the regular season 22-9 and 4-4 in the Trinity League.
OLu got their playoff draw on Saturday morning and they will open on the road against Valley Christian (Cerritos) on Thursday night at 6 pm. Click HERE to see the full playoff bracket.
Girls Golf
The girls golf team wrapped up the regular season in a tie for 2nd place with Mater Dei. OLu went 2-1 in the final week of the season beating JSerra twice. Overall the Lancers were 12-7 on the regular season. They will await their playoff fate when the draw is released next week.
This week the 8 golfers will compete in Trinity League Finals at Los Serranos Golf Course. The top 9 golfers out of 40 will advance to the individual CIF tournament.
Boys Water Polo
Boys water polo is now 14-8 overall and 2-2 in league play after a 1-1 week. They lost to JSerra to open the week on Wednesday before beating Bosco 24-1 on senior night on Thursday.
The Lancers have two weeks left in the regular season. They will travel north this coming weekend to play in the Memorial Tournament.
Girls Tennis
The Lancers went 1-1 this past week in a pair of Trinity League contests. They swept the season series with Rosary after a 14-4 win on Tuesday. On Thursday they fell in a tight match to Mater Dei on 12-6. They are currently 8-6 overall and 2-3 in the league.
Next up is a two-match week against Santa Margarita and JSerra.
Cross County
Back on the trail, the cross country teams competed in the Orange County Championships on Friday evening.
The boys finished 15th overall. Jackson Schaller led all Lancers with a 41st place finish. The girls were led by Sophia Gibson who finished 21st. Amelia Trautman finished 25th.
OLu is off this coming week before competing in the Apache Invitational on October 29.
Hockey
OLu is off to a perfect 3-0 start after winning a high-scoring affair against St. Mary’s 7-6 in overtime. OLu led 3-1 into the 3rd but surrendered 5 goals in the final period sending it into overtime. Kyle Isenberg scored the game-winner on an assist from Jack Furlong.
The Lancers play on Thursday against J Serra at Great Park Ice. The puck drop is 8:40 pm.
Surf
After a week off the Lancers were back in the water this past Friday against Mater Dei. They won the meet 101-63 for their first win of the year. They are now 1-1 on the season. They will compete next against Millikan on Thursday.
