It was a rare Thursday night game for Orange Lutheran as they traveled to Trabuco Hills to play Santa Margarita in Trinity League action. The Lancers jumped out quick with an 8-yard touchdown from Carson Conklin to Jonah Laban and a 64-yard connection from Logan Gonzalez to Malik Blackmon. OLu led 14-8 at the half behind the two scores and stout defense. Still holding the slim margin midway through the 4th quarter the game changed when Wes Uipi buried the Santa Margarita running back on a 4th and goal from the 2 for a 5-yard loss (1:19). Two plays later Cooper Vander Hill broke away for an 87-yard touchdown run. On the next Eagles possession, Joseph Wiersma knocked the ball loose from the Eagles quarterback and Jonah Laban scooped it up for a touchdown. The Lancers went on to 28-14. OLu is now 4-3 overall and 1-1 in Trinity League play. They host St. John Bosco on Friday, October 18 at Orange Coast College. Kickoff is set for 7 pm.

The girls volleyball team lost their only match of the week 3-1 to Santa Margarita. OLu was able to grab the 3rd set after losing the first 2. OLu falls to 18-12 overall and 2-4 in league play. OLu wraps up the regular season this week with matches against J Serra and Rosary.

The Lancers girls golf team completed a 3 match week 1-2. On Tuesday, OLu fell 198-219 to J Serra. Senior Maddie Hahn led the way with a team-low 40. On Wednesday, OLu earned their first league win of the year 210-225 over Rosary. Sophomore Riley Shin led the way with a 38. To wrap up the week the Lancers battled hard againt J Serra at Arroyo Trabuco Golf Course but fell 195-205. Every Lancer shot a 46 or below in the match. Maddie Hahn had a season low score of 37. The Lancers are now 9-8 overall. They wrap up the regular season on Tuesday against Rosary.

Boys Water Polo
In a massive game against Santa Margarita on Thursday, the Lancers prevailed 11-10 in a come from behind victory. Senior Miles Wilson had 7 points (4 goals and 3 assists) while senior Riley Catino had 6 points (3 goals and 3 assists). Catino had the game-winning goal in the final minute of the 4th quarter. Click HERE to view the goal. Sophomore Reed Pantaleon and senior Mason Killion led the Lancers on defense with 3 steals each. Junior Brennis Licecis had 6 saves. OLu is 9-6 overall and 2-0 in Trinity League play.

The girls tennis team picked up a win over Rosary on Tuesday 13-5. They fell in their other two matches to Santa Margarita and Mater Dei. The Lancers are 8-5 overall.

It was a banner day for the Lancers cross country day at the Clovis Invitational. The girls varsity squad won their race to take home the championship. OLu beat Yorba Linda by 11 points. The girls were led by Sophia Gutierrez, who ran 2 seconds shy of her life-time PR (personal record) on the course. Nicole Meyer and Sofia Gibson earned themselves the #11 and 12 all-time marks in school history on the course. The girls are currently ranked 4th in CIF-SS Division 4 and are 5th in the state in Division 4.
The boys varsity squad was 17th in a deep and competitive field. Senior Garrett Boezinger finished 11th overall. He ran the third all-time 5K mark in school history with a blistering time of 16:11.

The OLu hockey team moved to 2-0 with a 4-2 win over defending national champions Santa Margarita. Junior Thomas Stift and senior Jackson Ferry each had 3 points (1 goal and 2 assists each). Owen Augustine and Luke Anthony had a goal a piece.
