Hockey
Orange Lutheran won their 3rd CAHA State Title with a 3-1 win over Santa Margarita on Sunday afternoon. The win secures a bid to the National Tournament in Texas in late March.
The Lancers opened up the road to Nationals with a 5-2 win over St. Mary’s in the opening game of the California Amateur Hockey Association State Playoffs. Senior Jackson Ferry netted a hat-trick in the opening night win. OLu would fall in game 2 to Santa Margarita 4-3 in overtime. In a must-win game to secure a berth to the National Tournament, the Lancers beat Pacific Ridge 5-3. In the finals, Jackson Ferry opened the scoring early in the first with a backhand goal to give the Lancers the lead. Late in the 2nd, Josh Renton scored from the point with 26 seconds left to give OLu a 2-0 lead entering the 3rd. Ethan Hirst would cap the scoring on a breakaway to give the Lancers a 3-0 lead which they would eventually finish 3-1.

Wrestling
For the first time in Orange Lutheran history, the Lancers sent two wrestlers to the CIF State Finals in Bakersfield, California. Junior Alexander Subias (113 lbs) and junior Zack Stone (120 lbs) both competed for the Lancers. Subias lost his first match to the #1 ranked wrestler in the state at 113lbs. In the consolation bracket, he fell in the first round. Stone lost to the #12th ranked wrestler in the 120lb bracket in the first round. He would go on to advance to the 3rd round of the consolation bracket before losing to the 11th ranked wrestler at 120lbs. Congratulations to the OLu wrestling program on a historical year.
Baseball
Playing their first game in 9 days, OLu didn’t show any rust and neither did senior pitcher Christian Rodriguez. Rodriguez threw a no-hitter in game 1 of the doubleheader against Marcus (TX). He only hurled 76 pitches, 58 for strikes to go along with 5 punchouts. OLu won the opener 2-0. In game 2 senior Max Rajcic led the way striking out 12 and only allowing 2 hits as the Lancers again blanked Marcus 5-0. The final game of the weekend for the Lancers was against Valley Christian on Saturday night. The Lancers bats came alive as OLu won 8-2. Justin DeCriscio went 2-4 with an RBI. Max Rajcic 1-2 with 2 RBI’s and 2 walks. Gabe Miranda had 2 runs scored. The Lancers are a perfect 6-0 as they take a week off prior to the start of Trinity League play.

Boys Golf
The Lancers boys golf team opens the season on Monday morning at the Glendora Invitational at Glendora Country Club. They will also play Marina on Wednesday and the Ontario Christian Invitational on Thursday.

Boys Lacrosse
The perfect start for the boys lacrosse team continued with a 7-6 win over El Modena. The second-year program is currently 3-0 as they open Trinity League play this coming week.

Boys Tennis
The Lancers boys tennis team went 1-1 this past week. They lost to Villa Park in a tight contest 10-8 but then beat El Dorado on a games won tiebreak 10-9. The Lancers are 2-2 on the season.

Boys Volleyball
What a weekend it was for the boys volleyball team. The Lancers won a total of 7 games and did not drop a set en route to the Foothill Tournament Championship. OLu sailed by Dana Hills in the final winning 25-20 and 25-12. They are 10-1 on the season with a week off before entering into preseason play.

Girls Lacrosse
Girls Lacrosse dropped both games this week to Esperanza and J Serra. They fell to 1-3 on the season.

Softball
In a makeup of last week's Savannah Showcase the Lancers played a doubleheader at home this past weekend. In game 1 OLu beat San Clemente 11-7. Ciara Loken got her first career victory. OLu had some stellar performances at the plate including Vinnie Robles who went 3-5 with a home run and 2 RBI’s. Victoria Fragoso was 4-5, Hailey McCarthy went 3-4 with 2 RBI’s and Tessa Jerue was 2-3.
In the second half of the doubleheader OLu downed Penisula 11-0. Tiana Poole had a 2 run homer in the win. The Lancers had 12 hits. Ciara Loken picked up her second victory to move her 2-0 on the season.
OLu is now 4-1 as they prepare for the Dave Kops Tournament of Champions in Laughlin, Nevada and Bullhead City, Arizona this coming week.

Swim & Dive
The boys and girls swim teams both won their opening meets against San Juan Hills on Tuesday. They will be in the Capo Valley Relays this coming week.

Track & Field
The Lancers won their first meets in both girls and boys track and field on Thursday. The girls got 95 points with the closest team being Oxford with 14. The boys got 39 points beating Western by 8.
In the Mustang Round-Up on Saturday, Sophia Hartwell finished 6th in the 100-yard dash, 2nd in the long jump, and 2nd in the triple jump. Pessi Tavaika finished 3rd in the girls shot put while Allie Garis finished 5th. Sophia Gutierrez finished 3rd in the girls 3200M run. Michela Petrovic finished 3rd in the 200-yard dash. Ryan Bentley finished 3rd in the high jump.
