Throughout each season, one athlete from each sport is selected as a profile athlete. This week's profile is a feature on wrestler Dustin Serizawa.

Girls Basketball
The girls basketball has ticked their win total to 16 with two wins over the past week. Last Saturday, the Lancers took down Santiago/Corona by 2 points in the Northview Showcase 51-49. Madi Bogan and Shea Joko led the Lancers with 12 points apiece.
Last Tuesday, OLu fell 57-32 to fellow open division watchlist team Sierra Canyon. Kelly Garrity had 10 points during the defeat.
To close out this week, the Lancers went on the road and beat JSerra to notch their first Trinity League win of the season 55-46. Taliyah McFerson had 12 points, and Ashari Cassell contributed 11.
The Lancers are 16-3 and ranked #1 in the Division 2AA CIF poll. They were recently named to the watchlist for the open division basketball bracket.
Boys Basketball
The Trinity League season is in full swing as the Lancers took on three league opponents over the past week.
OLu fell in a tight battle against Mater Dei last Friday 66-58 to open league play. Seth Brown led the way with 18 points while Cannon Potter contributed 11 and Zach Wright had 8.
They bounced back the next day with a 63-52 win on the road against Servite. Cannon Potter led all scorers with 21 points. Blake Brewer was all over the place, notching 13 points, three steals, and nine rebounds.
In the third game of league play, OLu fell to a talented Bosco team 69-61. Seth Brown had 17 points, Cannon Potter 14, and freshman John Gazzaniga chipped in 11.
The Lancers are now 11-6 overall and 1-2 in league play. They continue the league schedule tonight against JSerra at 7 pm on the road.
Girls Soccer
On Thursday, the girls soccer team played one game this past week against JSerra. They ground out a result with a 0-0 tie on the road to move their record to 6-2-5 overall. Amaya Assal earned the shutout in the net. The Lancers travel south next week to take on Santa Margarita on Tuesday. OLu is currently ranked #9 in the Division 2 CIF poll.
Boys Soccer
The boys soccer team went 1-1 over the past week. The Lancers opened the week with a 2-0 defeat against Mater Dei. Back at home Wednesday, OLu came back from a 1-0 deficit early to beat Bosco 2-1. Hayden Snyder scored the equalizer 10 minutes into the first half. Then senior leader Andrew Hernandez scored the winner midway through the 2nd half with a curling shot from 20 yards out.
The Lancers are now 5-8-3 overall and 1-2 in Trinity League play. They play JSerra tonight on the road.
Girls Water Polo
It was an action-packed week for the girls water polo team. Last Friday, they opened it up with a 13-11 against Newport Harbor. The next day they knocked off #1 Laguna Beach 15-14 in double overtime. They would beat Martin Luther King 15-5 on Tuesday before playing a home game against Mater Dei on Thursday. In a tight back and forth match, Mater Dei knocked off the Lancers 6-4.
OLu is currently 8-5 overall and 1-1 in league play. They are ranked #2 in the CIF Division 1 poll.
Wrestling
This past weekend, the Lancers competed in the Juan Enriquez Memorial Tournament and had seven wrestlers medal.

Eddie Irwin - 6th place - 145lbs
Joseph Dervartanian - 7th place - 160lbs

Lorenzo Sanchez - 8th place - 120lbs
This weekend, the Lancers compete in the Five Counties at Fountain Valley High School.
Hockey
The OLu hockey team is now 9-3 overall and in 3rd place in the Anaheim Ducks High School Hockey League standings through 12 games.
OLu fell on Friday 3-2 to Tahoe Prep this past week before bouncing back on Saturday with a 5-3 win over Pacific Ridge. Five different Lancers scored in the win as OLu rallied from a goal down in the 3rd, scoring three unanswered to seal the victory. The Lancers pounded Pacific Ridge with 51 shots registered. Caleb Martinez picked up the win stopping 16 shots.
The Lancers are off until the weekend of January 21, when they travel to San Jose for two games.
Surf
This past Wednesday, the OLu surf team ended the 2021-22 season with a bang at the Seaview League finals. In league finals, the Lancers had five medalists, including two individual winners. The results are below:

Tyler Seitz - 1st place - Boys Shortboard
Olivia Roberts - 2nd place - Girls Longboard
Brody Mansfield - 2nd place - Boys Longboard
Luke Holani - 6th place - Bodyboard
This is the first time the Lancers have had two surfers finish as individual winners in team history. The team finished 2nd overall in the league standings with an 8-2 record.
