Athlete Profiles
Throughout each season, one athlete from each sport is selected as a profile athlete. This week’s profile features senior cross country runner Kira Anderson.
Football
OLu fell to Mater Dei 48-16 on Friday night. Senior kicker Dieter Kelly was 3-3 on field goal attempts, hitting from 47 twice and 45 yards. Sophomore quarterback John Gazzaniga had the Lancers touchdown with a beautiful fade route pass to Kaleb Marshall in the fourth quarter.
The Lancers are currently 6-2 overall and 2-1 in Trinity League play. MaxPreps has OLu ranked #90 nationally.
They will head to Bellflower next week to take on St. John Bosco. Kickoff is slated for 7 pm.
Girls Volleyball
It’s playoff time for girls volleyball. The Lancers qualified for the Division 2 CIF playoffs and will play Etiwanda on the road in the first round at 6 pm on Thursday, October 20. Check out the full division 2 bracket HERE.
The Lancers enter the playoffs with a 25-10 record.
Girls Golf
The girls golf team wrapped up their best regular season in school history with a 17-2 record and a 2nd-place finish in Trinity League play. OLu went 6-2 in league, with their only losses coming to undefeated Santa Margarita. They will play in the Division 1 CIF playoff round on Halloween at the Huntington Club in Huntington Beach.
On Monday and Tuesday, 8 Lancers compete in the year-end Trinity League Finals tournament. The top 8 individuals will advance to the CIF Individual tournament on Tuesday, October 25.
Hockey
The Lancers lost to Cathedral last Saturday 4-3. OLu rallied from 3-0 down with three 3rd period goals but came up a goal short. Ethan Kuehn had two goals to raise his total to 4 on the year, while Jordan Tandy notched his first
The Lancers are 4-3 overall and will play Pacific Ridge on Saturday night at the Icetown in Carlsbad, with the puck drop at 7:30 pm.
Boys Water Polo
The boys water polo fell to Mater Dei in their lone game of the week, 15-8. The Lancers are currently 9-9 overall and 2-1 in league play.
The CIF-SS polls put the Lancers at #12 in Division 1.
Girls Tennis
OLu split their two matches this past week with a loss to Santa Margarita but a win over Rosary 15-3. OLu swept the season series with the Royals. The girls are 6-8 with two regular season matches remaining before league finals.
Cross Country
The Lancer cross country competed in the OC Championships on Saturday morning at Oak Canyon Park.
The girls finished 2nd overall with a team total of 112 points. The results were:

The boys finished 6th with a team total of 150 points. The results were:

- Joel Borton - 17:38
Next weekend the Lancers will compete at Mt. Sac before the Trinity League Finals on October 28.
Surf
The surf team notched their first win of the 2022 season beating Mater Dei 90-78 on Friday. OLu is now 1-1 and will compete against Long Beach Wilson on Tuesday.
