Fall Sports All-League
Thirty-four fall sports athletes were named to All-League teams in football, boys water polo, girls golf, girls volleyball, girls tennis, and cross country. See the full list.
Boys Basketball
The boys basketball team is currently ranked #2 in the CIF Division 2 poll. They are 7-2 overall. They have been off since early December and will be on the court in their home opener on Saturday night against Mayfair at 6.
Girls Basketball
The Lancers girls basketball team is ranked #11 in the CIF Divison 1 poll. Sitting at 9-2 overall, they took home 3rd in the Troy Tournament a week ago. They will be back on the court next week in the Arizona Tournament of Champions.
Hockey
At 11-7 overall, the Lancer hockey team is in 1st place in the Anaheim Ducks High School Hockey League with 33 points. Last weekend they beat St. Marys 5-3. They are off until January 7, when they take on Bellarmine.
Girls Water Polo
In a battle of #1 vs #2 last weekend, the Lancers beat #1 Laguna Beach 8-6. Sara Naulty scored five goals, Allison Cohen 2, and Michelle Urkov scored 1. Lauren Steele was tremendous in the cage with eight saves.
With the win, the girls water polo team has risen to #1 in the CIF Division 1 poll with a 4-0 record. They are off until after Christmas, when they play in the Holiday Cup.
Girls Soccer
Through 6 games, the girls soccer team is 4-2 overall. They lost to El Dorado 1-0 on Tuesday but bounced back with a 3-1 win over Tesoro on Thursday evening. They will play twice before Christmas, with Canyon on Tuesday and Wilson on Thursday.
Boys Soccer
What a run it was for the boys soccer team in the HB Tournament last week. OLu went 3-0 in league play and won the semifinal game over Huntington Beach to advance to the finals. They fell to a strong Godinez team in the finals, 1-0.
The boys are off to a 4-2 start and will play El Toro on Wednesday.
Wrestling
At last week's Lady Monarchs Tournament, two girls varsity wrestlers competed. Freshman Jennifer Flores finished 2nd after knocking off the #2 and #3 seeds. Anna Bova just missed a spot on the podium but competed hard.
This weekend the boys wrestling team is in the Beach Bash at Huntington Beach HS.
