National Signing Day
The final signing day celebration of 2023 took place Monday morning in the Ellwein Center. 18 Lancers pledged their commitment to play athletics at the next level. Read about all 18 on our blog.
Athletics Hall of Fame Profiles
The OLu Athletics Hall of Class of 2023 is set to be inducted on June 24, 2023. We will be sharing a profile article on inductees until the June event. This week’s profile features Aaron Corp ‘07.
Girls Golf Awarded CIF-SS Academic Award
The girls golf team was awarded as the CIF-SS Academic Champion for enrollment under 1499 on Monday evening at Angels Stadium. The varsity girls compiled a 3.84 GPA. Check out the pictures.
Baseball
In the final series of the 2023 regular season, the Lancers played JSerra in a three-game set.
OLu opened the series with a 5-3 win on Monday evening. Derek Curel went 2-3 with an RBI and two runs scored. Evan Miranda picked up the win by going 5 ⅔ of an inning, striking out seven, and allowing two runs.
OLu dropped games 2 and 3. They concluded the regular season 17-10 and will await the playoff draw on Monday morning to find out their opponent.
Softball
The Orange Lutheran softball team is not only Trinity League champions but also undefeated Trinity League champions!
The Lancers completed a perfect 12-0 league record this week with wins over Mater Dei and JSerra.
OLu opened the week with a 4-1 win over Mater Dei. Freshman Peyton May had six strikeouts. Kai Minor and Tessa Jerue went 2-4. Cate Medvitz went 2-3.
They finished the perfect league season with another 4-1 win over JSerra on Wednesday. Brianne Weiss was her dominant self, striking out 16 Lions in the win. Zara Mineo-Schrank and Mak Motis had an RBI.
OLu finished the regular season 21-5 overall and 12-0 in league play. They are ranked #4 in the CIF-SS Division 1 poll. The Division 1 playoff brackets come out on Saturday morning.
Girls Lacrosse
With the playoffs on the horizon, the girls lacrosse team wrapped up the regular season at 10-9.
The CIF playoff draw will be conducted on Saturday morning.
Boys Lacrosse
The boys lacrosse team wrapped up the 2023 season, winning 2 of 3 contests this week to end the season at 6-10. OLu beat Mission Viejo 10-2 on Monday and Woodbridge 16-4 on senior night.
Boys Volleyball
The boys volleyball team kicked off their CIF playoff run with a 3-1 win over Royal on Thursday. Read the recap.
The Lancers will play Long Beach Wilson at home on Saturday in round 2 at 3 pm.
Boys Golf
Different week, same result for the boys golf team. OLu continues their hot form with back-to-back wins to open the week against St. John Bosco and JSerra.
The Lancers shot 187 (+7) as a team in both rounds.
They dropped their first contest of the season to Santa Margarita on Thursday 192-201.
OLu is 10-1 on the season, and 6-1 in league play with three matches remaining.
Boys Tennis
The boys tennis team wrapped up the 2023 season at Trinity League finals on Tuesday and Wednesday. Freshmen Everett Somerville and Thomas Raab finished 3rd and 4th in the singles draw.
Track & Field
The Lancers Track & Field squad competed at the Trinity League Finals on Friday evening at JSerra. OLu had several athletes and relays clinch a CIF place, led by the boys 4x100 relay, who took 1st and set a new meet record. Below are notable results & CIF qualifiers:
