Athlete Profiles
Throughout each season, one athlete from each sport is selected as a profile athlete. This week’s profile features senior track & field sprinter Matt Kaloustian and senior boys volleyball player Preston Schmidt.
Winter Sports Awards
After one of the best winter seasons in sports history, many athletes were named to All-League, All-CIF, and All-County teams. See them all HERE.
Baseball
The varsity baseball team traveled to Alabama this week to take on two highly rated-teams. On Friday evening, the first game was against Hoover High School (Alabama), and OLu dominated in a 13-1 victory. Casey Borba and Justin Lopez each hit homers. Jordan Cole threw three innings, striking out 6.
OLu is currently 10-6-1 on the season.
When they return from Alabama, they will participate in the Boras Classic starting on April 11.
Softball
The Lancer softball team opened up the Michelle Carew Classic on Friday afternoon with a 3-0 victory over Mater Dei (Chula Vista). Brianne Weiss was nearly perfect, striking out 20 batters.
The nightcap featured OLu’s 3rd meeting of the year with Los Alamitos. The Lancers fell in a tough game 4-2. They will play their 3rd game Saturday morning.
The girls are 9-5 overall and 2-0 in league play.
Girls Lacrosse
The girls lacrosse team split their two games on the field this week. They started the week with a resounding 21-3 win over Centennial on Wednesday night.
On Thursday, they fell in a tight battle to Rosary 9-6.
OLu is currently 6-7 on the season and is ranked #6 in the CIF-SS Division 3 poll.
Boys Lacrosse
The boys lacrosse team has hit the midseason point at 3-5. They fell in their first league contest of the season to Santa Margarita but will look to bounce back against Servite on Saturday morning.
Boys Volleyball
Returning from the Iolani Tournament in Hawaii, the Lancers started right where they left. OLu downed JSerra 3-0 at home on Wednesday night.
To open the second round of league play, the Lancers met Santa Margarita and avenged their prior loss with a 3-1 win.
OLu is currently 16-7 overall and 4-2 in league.
Girls Beach Volleyball
The girls beach volleyball team split their two games this past week. On Wednesday, they fell to Santa Margarita 3-2 but bounced back with a 5-0 win over Rosary on Friday.
With two games remaining in the regular season, the Lancers are 6-7 overall.
Boys Tennis
At the midpoint of the boys tennis season, the Lancers, with six freshmen on the varsity roster, are making strides.
In consecutive weeks, they recently won league matches against St. John Bosco and Mater Dei.
They have six matches remaining before the Trinity League tournament in late April.
Boys Golf
The boys golf is off to a perfect 6-0 start on the links! This week they opened Trinity League play with back-to-back wins over Mater Dei and St. John Bosco.
Senior Ian Shahwan continues to lead the way shooting a 35 (-1) over the two matches this past week.
STUNT
After nine games, the OLu STUNT team is 5-4 overall with two games left in the season. OLu split their two games on Thursday, winning 17-3 over Oceanview and losing 19-5 to San Clemente.
The Lancers close the season on April 12 against Segerstrom and Westminster.
Track & Field
The OLu Track & field team competed at the Brea Relays last weekend. The boys team came in 2nd overall with 75 total points.

- Girls 1600M - 3rd place
- Boys 1600M - 2nd place
This weekend the team is split, with some groups headed to the Stanford Invitational and others to the Trabuco Hills Invitational.
Swim
The Lancer swim team competed in the OC Championships this weekend at JSerra. The opening day of the meet was Friday and the finals on Saturday.
